To The Planes!

It’s not every day that a 20ft shipping container turns up on your verge. And it’s not every day that someone boxes up your worldly goods, chucks them in the back, and then sends it all 6000 miles on a ship; but hey, last Thursday was that day. Of course, I‘ve worked out how to track the container and the ship that it‘s going on, and it’s leaving Southampton on Tuesday.

Having packed everything, we said our final goodbyes to family. Then we needed to get rid of our car, and get on a train for a night in a hotel in London. Now it turns out that wheely luggage is great for getting around; not so great for staying still as the train starts and stops.

We spent last night in the St Pancras hotel in London, and we were lucky enough to get upgraded to a big suite with stairs in it!

Today we’ve also learned something new: apparently, dear reader, ink is a liquid. This means, don’t pack it in your hand luggage or you’re going to get searched. Still, we made it through security with tea and knitting needles in tact, and we’re safely ensconced in the Virgin lounge before getting on the flight.
