Thanksgiving Has Failed

Welcome, surprised reader, as this week I have shocking news for you: the great festival of Thanksgiving has failed us! After year upon year of gamely holding back Christmas, this year, Thanksgiving has failed to discharge its fiduciary duty. We've barely done Halloween, and Christmas is everywhere. Just look at what top quality drama outlet The Hallmark Channel are up to already:

It's difficult to comprehend what Hallmark really is. It's perhaps easier to describe the precise opposite: the diametric opposite of the Hallmark channel is gangster rap. Hallmark is comfy, white, and middle class... it's basically BBC Stepford Wives 24. Cathy Come Home it ain't. But anyway, they've decided that the Countdown to Christmas is on, which I suppose is technically true any time of the year, but the failure of Thanksgiving to hold this back is a worrying trend towards UK-style Christmania.
This week we've both continued to test positive for COVID. Fortunately we're doing relatively OK on it (one of my colleagues this week said, "if Phil's got COVID then I want what he's having") and are well on the mend. It turns out that sitting in your house not doing much is actually quite dull though: I'm not entirely sure how we got through the Spring of 2020. As well as Halloween, and the start of the Countdown to Christmas, we've had the baseball World Series to entertain us. That wraps up this weekend, with it looking like the Houston Astros are the favourite.
I guess it's now time to sit back, relax and either enjoy or endure the Countdown to Christmas. Given the COVID, I'm not sure we have too many other options...
