Well, Philip had to go to work on Tuesday, so I've spent the past couple of days exploring the area on my own. Not brave enough to face the massed lanes of the Californian roads, this has been done on foot - getting my steps in!

I have managed to locate the Sunnyvale Library - it's huge and very quiet - although I think Rhymetime was gathering just as I left. I believe it has a 'Drive-thru' returns point...Not far away from the library is 'Eddies Quilting & Sewing Center' so Mum, I have found 'Best Press' and a whole wall of sewing machine feet.

The Caltrain (I like the Caltrain - it literally has all the bells and whistles and flashing lights!) has taken me to Palo Alto and to San Antonio for a wander around the town centres and residential streets. I found 'Joann Fabric and Crafts' - oh my goodness - so many good toys to play with and they are obviously getting ready for all the 'fall' decorations; I'll have to join in! Also had my first trip around a Walmart and a Safeway.

There are some amazing front gardens and well kept verges. I particularly like those which embrace a 'drought resistant' planting scheme. I've seen orange trees, lemon trees and plenty of palm trees, and many plants that I don't yet know the name of. I'll have get a library card...
