Apple of my eye

We live in Palo Alto, one of the most famous and historical towns in Silicon Valley. Many famous companies were founded in Palo Alto garages, and Palo Alto is home to the first ever Apple Store, where Steve Jobs launched the first iPhone. In fact, it's 7 minutes' walk from our house.

So there was plenty of excitement here when the new iPhone was available for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Plenty of people wanted to buy one; so many that the staff decided to get people to queue outside the shop:

So far I've managed to resist buying a new phone; in fact I have a small bet with a colleague that I can resist for more than 6 months (he doesn't think I can).

Just to tempt me a bit more, we're only 20 minutes walk from another Apple Store, in the Stanford Shopping Centre. I did spend a bit of time in that one stroking the lovely ground glass back of the new phone and admiring the nice emerald green colour... but as yet, my old phone is just fine, thanks.
